DESCRIPTION:The Vancouver Short Film Festival (VSFF) is thrilled to be back in theatres for its 13th annual festival\, which will showcase innovative and original short films from across Canada. This year’s festival features 57 films across six programs\, including 13 films in the popular After Dark block. All of this year’s films will screen in-person at the VIFF Centre from June 2nd – 4th. Films will also be available online via Eventive Virtual from June 2nd – 11th. \nTheir 2023 festival is one of “Rising Stars\, Revolutionary Stories”\, with a lineup that features bold storytelling and daring experimentation from some of Canada’s most talented filmmakers. VSFF is proud to highlight British Columbia’s homegrown artists with 45 films from BC filmmakers\, and to give a platform to up-and-coming talent by including 14 student films.  \n\n\nVSFF has organized a number of filmmaker-exclusive events to take place at the ANNEX (823 Seymour St) during the festival. SUMMARY:Call for Proposals Short Films on First Peoples’ Cultural Revitalization in B.C.
DESCRIPTION:British Columbia is a vast landscape that has been home to Indigenous Nations since time immemorial. There is diversity in the languages and cultures that span the province. \nKnowledge Network\, in partnership with the First Peoples’ Cultural Council\, is seeking Indigenous filmmakers to produce stories reflecting the cultural values First Peoples bring to British Columbia. These stories will be broadcast on Knowledge Network and its streaming platforms. We are looking for stories that inform\, entertain and enlighten audiences about First Nations cultural revitalization in British Columbia\, which include efforts to revitalize languages\, arts\, cultures and heritage and showcase the positive impact on communities. These stories will span a wide variety of subject areas including\, but not limited to\, art\, music\, dance\, songs\, stories\, languages and language technology\, heritage stewardship\, repatriation\, archeology. \nKnowledge Network and the First Peoples’ Cultural Council recognize the effects of colonization on Indigenous peoples. DESCRIPTION:The Vancouver International Women in Film Festival (VIWFF) showcases an impressive line-up of short and feature-length films (narrative\, documentary\, experimental and animation) by established and emerging women filmmakers from around the world. \nThe five day celebration will take place from March 7th-11th\, 2023 at the VIFF Centre in Vancouver and online from March 12-25\, 2023. The festival will feature in-person screenings\, receptions\, filmmaker panels\, and more. VIWFF will include 37 films from 14 countries\, made up of 19 Canadian films — with 9 from local BC filmmakers.
