SUMMARY:4th Annual #BCFilm REEL Earth Day Challenge
DESCRIPTION:The fourth annual REEL Earth Day Challenge is back\, running from April 8th to 19th. This yearly event\, held in the lead-up to Earth Day on April 22nd\, encourages local film crews\, productions\, sponsors\, and industry stakeholders to raise funds for the Metro Vancouver Regional Parks Foundation\, a registered charity supporting Metro Vancouver Regional Parks. Metro Vancouver Regional Parks Foundation works to protect biodiversity\, combat climate change\, and connect people with nature. 100% of the money raised goes directly to work that protects and preserves regional parks\, where many B.C. film and television productions have filmed over the years. \nSince 2021\, the event has raised over $373\,000 to build biodiverse\, inclusive park spaces\, and a more sustainable world. 20 park projects have been brought to fruition and 110 youth attended Indigenous-led summer camps at no cost to them. \nThis is a chance for B.C. film productions\, who have consistently filmed in the regional parks over the years\, to give back to those parks. Industry sponsors can also contribute to the top teams’ daily challenge totals\, and the production that raises the most funds overall is recognized as the winner! \n  \nGet Involved\n\n\n\nDonate to support our amazing park projects! Regardless of the team you choose\, every cent of your donation to the REEL Earth Day Challenge goes directly into Metro Vancouver Regional Parks Foundation’s programs and projects.\nBecome a Sponsor of the REEL Earth Day Challenge\, where your support contributes to the global effort of raising awareness and fostering sustainable practices that nurture nature\, protect parklands and connect people with the great outdoors.\nRegister a Production Team to elevate your filmmaking impact and join the REEL Earth Day Challenge with your dedicated film crew\, where together\, you can amplify the message of environmental consciousness and inspire positive change through the art of storytelling.\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nLearn more\n\nMeet this year’s competing teams\nLearn about the projects\nView the impacts \n\n

SUMMARY:Reel Green™ Carbon Calculator Training | April 22nd\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Derived from one of the motion picture industry’s leading carbon calculators\, albert\, Reel Green™ has adapted a carbon calculator for British Columbia\, for free\, for productions in B.C. to use. \nCalculating the carbon footprint of your production is an important step in understanding the impact of film production. Having consistent data and metrics from the industry can help organizations like Reel Green understand priority areas for sustainable practices as well as help productions understand and measure their carbon impact. \nAdditionally\, with more available data points we can also derive economic benefits of going green on production! \nThe albert carbon calculator tool is available free for all productions to use. It has helps streamline the process of inputting and collecting data needed to calculate carbon impact. Multiple productions can be tracked on this tool\, and having a single data hub helps to develop benchmarks for productions to work from and improve upon. \nWe can also offer consultative support though Reel Green™. For more information on carbon calculation please contact reelgreen@creativebc.com
