SUMMARY:Indian Summer Festival 2023
DESCRIPTION:The 13th Annual Indian Summer Festival will take place from July 6-16th in Vancouver. In 2023 the distilled\, powerful\, ten-event lineup will speak to the theme of ‘inter/dependence’’. The idea of the individual human being as a distinct\, autonomous\, and self-determined unit is a fiction created by Euromodernity. Rather\, Ancient Cultures have long understood that we exist in relationship to all. How could we truly understand our/selves in isolation when we are sculpted by near and distant conditions\, and we affect all through our actions? \nJune 9: ISF Sound System – Free Music Sunday\nCome celebrate summer in the city with our free music stage in the heart of Granville Island. Join us for a day of incredible live music in the Public Market Courtyard at the foot of False Creek. Featuring a diverse line-up of musicians and genres\, this afternoon will showcase a roster of fresh talent looking to push boundaries. Come on down\, no tickets or reservations required. Grab lunch or an iced chai from the indoor market. Relax and vibe as a brilliant lineup of musicians serenade us by the seaside. \nLearn more here

SUMMARY:National Indigenous Peoples Day 2023
DESCRIPTION:June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day. This is a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage\, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations\, Inuit and Métis peoples. The Canadian Constitution recognizes these three groups as Aboriginal peoples\, also known as Indigenous peoples. \nAlthough these groups share many similarities\, they each have their own distinct heritage\, language\, cultural practices and spiritual beliefs. \nIn cooperation with Indigenous organizations\, the Government of Canada chose June 21\, the summer solstice\, for National Aboriginal Day\, now known as National Indigenous Peoples Day. For generations\, many Indigenous peoples and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage on or near this day due to the significance of the summer solstice as the longest day of the year.

SUMMARY:Reel Green™ Carbon Calculator Training - JUNE 2023
DESCRIPTION:Reel Green™ offers free Carbon Calculator training for all film industry professionals in British Columbia and Canada. \nAbout This Course \nIn partnership with the Canadian Media Producer’s Association\, Reel Green™ is offering a free Carbon Calculator training as part of the STAR Producer Program. CMPA members and non-members can attend this free training session. \nDerived from one of the motion picture industry’s leading carbon calculators\, albert\, Reel Green™ has adapted a carbon calculator\, for free\, for film productions to use. \nCalculating the carbon footprint of your production is an important step in understanding the impact of film production. Having consistent data and metrics from the industry can help organizations like Reel Green™ understand priority areas for sustainable practices as well as help productions understand and measure their carbon impact. \nAdditionally\, with more available data points we can also derive economic benefits of going green on production! \nThe albert carbon calculator tool is available free for all productions to use. It has helps streamline the process of inputting and collecting data needed to calculate carbon impact. Multiple productions can be tracked on this tool\, and having a single data hub helps to develop benchmarks for productions to work from and improve upon. \nWe can also offer consultative support though Reel Green™.
