With a focus on rejuvenating the spirit of Hogan’s Alley\, this platform will work with a wide range of city groups\, main street businesses\, and at large Vancouver organizations to bring awareness to Vancouver’s prominent and growing African community! \nADF’s target audience includes new immigrants and refugees\, cultural groups throughout the lower mainland\, young adults of African Descent\, and the general public around the lower mainland\, Fraser Valley\, British Columbia and Canada as a whole. DESCRIPTION:The largest Indigenous Youth music festival across Turtle Island returns to Sunset Beach on August 24\, 2024. \nThis uplifting event celebrates history in the making for Indigenous artists\, “Often\, Indigenous people don’t have safe spaces for our creative expression. We are building those safe spaces\, we are grassroots\, and doing the groundwork needed to bring healing to our community. Music is a vehicle to drive our messages and amplify our voices\, music is a universal language that brings people together. We will continue to build off the strength of our ancestors\, and bring our truths to light and use our platforms to fight for justice\,” says award-winning hip-hop artist\, activist and entrepreneur\, Dakota Bear. \nThe opening ceremony will be hosted by Audrey Siegal and workshops throughout the day will be led by Nations Skate Youth and  Land Back Healing Society. Stay tuned to discover the music lineup. \nThe event has limited free tickets\, as well as offering VIP tickets as part of a fundraiser for  Land Back Healing Society’s Youth Music Program RISE .

AFCI Week 2024 runs August 25-28 at UCLA’s Meyer & Renee Luskin Conference Center in Los Angeles. \nAFCI Week is a multi-day conference crafted to foster unparalleled industry connections and lead generation\, facilitate professional growth\, and inspire collaboration between multiple levels of the production community\, including film commissioners\, government agencies\, production and studio executives\, independent producers\, and location managers. \nAttendees are invited to participate in a program that not only encompasses educational sessions\, keynote presentations\, and panels focusing on significant advancements in the production sector but also includes industry receptions. AFCI Members are encouraged to arrive early to attend the Locations Managers Guild International Awards (LMGI) Show on Saturday\, August 24. \nAFCI’s inaugural Film Industry Challenge workshop will see global film commissioners and industry professionals discuss disruption scenarios such as AI\, technology\, location usage\, workforce development\, and community-government collaboration. \nAFCI Week 2024 speakers include executives from Disney\, Annapurna\, Warner Bros. DESCRIPTION:2024 TAIWANfest: BECOMING ME \nIn a dialogue with Spain\, and inspired by the linguistic transformations and migrations of people\, this year TaiwanFest is exploring how our past leads us to become who we are today. Like different parts of Spain speak different dialects and languages\, Taiwan is a place where multilingual and multicultural people learn to co-exist. \nFrom Min-nan to Hakka to Mandarin\, the Dutch to the Spanish\, the Philippines to Canada\, let’s trace our cultural identity through the languages we share. The language of music is one that can be translated beyond words. In collaboration with Jade Music Fest\, TAIWANfest presents artists from Taiwan\, Hong Kong\, and Canada that delve into the relationship between the artist and the mother tongue. What kind of inspirations can be found in the various sounds of Chinese-languages? How does our diasporic backgrounds add to the creativity found onstage.
