The Reel Green™ Clean Energy Committee announces the launch of the updated Reel Green™ Grid Power Access Map to help productions locate power grid tie-in access points. This updated version of the interactive map is now mobile friendly and lists all known clean energy resources in the Lower Mainland.
There are two layers you can choose to show or hide when viewing the map:
📍Clean Energy Access Points
📍 Wish List of Future Clean Energy Access Points
New to using tie-ins on location? Here are some tips to get started:
- Check for tie-ins at or near your filming location using the Reel Green™ Grid Power Access Map.
- If there is no tie-in listed on the map, ask the property manager of the location if previous productions have used a tie-in, and find out what the available power capacity is.
- Ask the property manager if it is possible to have the property assessed by a third party contractor to assess if a temporary tie-in is possible.
- If the location is frequently used for filming, suggest to the property manager to consider upgrading the electrical system, and let them know they can apply for up $10,000 in support from the Reel Green™ Clean Energy Committee’s Power Tie-ins Program grant.
Reel Green™ is dedicated to empowering production crews in B.C.’s motion picture industry to embrace clean energy solutions by providing the tools and support needed for this transition. Our Clean Energy resources are aimed to equip crews to action more environmentally sustainable choices, such as prioritizing the use of grid power over traditional diesel generators, helping to reduce the environmental impact of production while fostering greener practices.
For each day a film crew replaces a diesel generator with a power tie-in to a clean electric energy source, productions will save approximately 350 litres of diesel fuel and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 938.35 kg CO2e/Day.
